Our office is a specialty medical practice consisting of 3 Medical Doctors, and 3 Mid-Level Providers. Our providers render treatment at our office in San Luis Obispo, 6 local outpatient care centers along the Central Coast, as well as 4 local hospitals.
Our office has a need for a full-time Discharge Coordinator (Patient Check-Out Clerk) for our office in San Luis Obispo. The ideal candidate must have the ability to move quickly from one task to another independently, be able to communicate effectively with peers, staff and supervisors, take instructions, comprehend and follow through with tasks effectively. Candidate must possess good verbal and written communications skills and the ability to read, write, comprehend and follow written and oral instructions. Computer literacy with the ability to type accurately at a moderate / fast pace, is highly desired.
Job Duties Include:
Under the direct supervision of the Medical Providers, Practice Manager, and the Front Office Supervisor, the Discharge Coordinator is expected to serve as the support for the front office’s needs; the ideal candidate will be able to complete their job duties in a thorough and timely manner to ensure workflow is optimal. This employee must have an attention to detail, comprehend and follow written and oral instructions all while maintaining composure in the presence of our patients.
Regular Job Tasks Will Include the Following:
Check patients out according to the Patient Discharge Slip / Provider
Disperse Lab Orders, Appointment Cards, New Patient Educational Material, etc.
Transmit records to outside providers
File Reviewed & Incoming Labs into patient charts
Notify Providers of out of range lab values on incoming results
Pull Charts for Upcoming Dates of Service
- At least two (2) years experience working in a clinical / office setting; and/or one (1) year experience processing authorization requests in a medical setting
- Candidate must be proficient at operating basic office programs / equipment (Computer, Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Systems, Scheduling Software, Microsoft Office Programs, Email, Multi-Line Telephone, Fax Machine, etc)
- Experience / Familiarity with specialty medical practice extremely helpful
- Bi-lingual / Spanish speaking desired
Salary is DOE.
