Inspired Flight Technologies, an innovative commercial drone design and manufacturing start-up located in San Luis Obispo California is seeking a highly motivated and creative Electrical Engineer Lead to join our forward- thinking engineering team.
The Company is quickly emerging into the drone technology space as the front runner of the industry.
Lead Electrical engineer reports to the Company’s Director of Engineering and would be responsible for the execution of the Company’s electrical and firmware projects. Includes design, prototyping, production and testing of UAV electrical systems. Integrate cutting edge UAV technologies including RTK positioning, obstacle avoidance and long-range data links.
Job Skills and Qualifications:
PCB schematic design and layout in EAGLE or similar software
Design of robust, EMI resilient analog and digital circuits
Evaluation of electronic designs using simulation and prototyping
Testing, troubleshooting and debugging of PCBs and electrical assemblies
PCB assembly including soldering and rework of SMT leadless components
Experience with electronics equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, etc.
Write firmware in C and Assembly for reliable control and operation of UAV power systems
Proficiency in bare metal embedded systems including knowledge of bootloaders, debuggers, toolchains and microcontroller circuit design
Understanding and implementation of embedded communication protocols including PWM, I2C, SPI, SMBus and CAN
Knowledge of BLDC motor operating principles and control methods such as field oriented control (FOC)
Configuration and use of open source flight stacks such as Ardupilot and PX4
Tuning of flight control algorithms including PIDs and sensor filters
Ability to pilot and flight test commercial UAV platforms
