Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician will provide part-time hourly support for the Real Estate Division, primarily focused on Harvest Lofts (www.harvest-lofts.com), but also serving other properties within the Cal Poly Partners real estate portfolio as needed. This position will assist with maintenance, repairs, inspections, and day-to-day operational support to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of Cal Poly Partners real estate assets. The position will report directly to the Real Estate Operations Manager.

Hours: Part-time , approximately 25 hours per week, not to exceed 999 hours per fiscal year.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair work including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC troubleshooting.
  • Respond to work orders and tenant maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities, building systems, and grounds to identify repair needs.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance schedules and documentation.
  • Support vendor coordination by providing access, oversight, and follow-up as directed by the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure work areas are clean, safe, and compliant with applicable codes and standards.
  • Assist with emergency response situations related to property maintenance.
  • Support other real estate assets in the CPP portfolio, including residential and commercial properties, as assigned.
  • Act as a point of contact for emergencies, promptly addressing and resolving issues and coordinating with appropriate personnel or emergency services when necessary.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in general building maintenance or related trade.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact professionally with tenants, staff, and vendors.
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver`s License and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • A background check is required for all CPP positions.

Physical Requirements

  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
  • Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate tools and equipment.
  • Seeing to perform maintenance tasks and read instructions or safety information.
  • Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Climbing ladders and working from elevated surfaces as needed.
  • Commuting to multiple properties within the CPP real estate portfolio as required.
