Under the direct supervision of the Head Teacher, the Teacher is responsible for assisting with the implementation of a quality developmentally appropriate childcare program. The Teacher helps to supervise the activities of the children, the student staff, and volunteers at the Children`s Center. Promoting a safe, healthy, and creative environment, the Teacher also participates in planning and implementing curriculum, and assessing children`s development. 

Educational/License/Credential Requirements 

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. 
  • 12 semester units in early childhood education or development required; 24 semester units in early childhood education or development preferred. 
  • California Child Development permit obtained within first 60 days of hire (at minimum proof of application submittal must be provided within the first 60 days of hire). 
  • Current American Red Cross Certification in the following: Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED. 
  • Fifteen (15) hours of Health and Safety Training. 

Experience Requirements 

  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with preschool-aged children or infants and toddlers in a classroom setting that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job. 
  • Must pass tuberculosis test, physical examination, and fingerprint clearance through Department of Justice. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to engage in physical activities with children, including bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor. 

Hourly Starting Rate:  $19.88 per hour 

Hourly Pay Range: $19.88 per hour - $27.83 per hour
