Come join the Public Works Information Technology Team of eight diverse and talented staff. The team covers system administration, Geographic Information Systems, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) support for water and wastewater, help desk support and security, The Systems Administrator position will work in a multi-faceted support role that requires a broad range of technical and interpersonal skills. 

The primary area of responsibility focuses on maintaining an environment of windows servers (both physical and virtual), managing over 300+ devices via SCCM/lntune, administering Group Policies and Active Directory, Use PowerAutomate for managing various forms and Flows and various security related technologies to secure the computing environment. Individuals that can work independently, collaborate with both office and field staff, and participate in a team are most desired. You will be asked to lead others in work efforts, accept direction, be an independent contributor as well as be effective in a team environment. 

Distinguishing Characteristics

The Systems Administrator II classification is the journey-level position in the series. Incumbents work under general supervision and perform professional-level technical duties; resolve technical issues for departmental systems; assist in providing training and technical work direction to subordinate staff.

The Systems Administrator III classification is the advanced-level position in the series. Incumbents work under direction and oversees technology projects; resolves technical issues for departmental systems; ensures systems security; recommends, plans and implements departmental solutions; regularly provides training and technical work direction to subordinate personnel.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a wide variety of technology platforms, including direct involvement in the analysis, selection, maintenance, upgrading, troubleshooting, and installation of hardware and software systems and related equipment.

A self-motivated professional who is not only technologically proficient but also an innovative problem-solver, adept at managing priorities, communicating with users, understanding their needs, and developing modern solutions to meet those needs is being sought. Hands-on experience leveraging APIs to integrate systems, automate workflows, and enhance operational efficiency is desired. All candidates must have a strong work ethic as well as the ability to learn continuously in order to keep up with the changing industry.

Experience administering Virtual Servers, Networks, Databases, IIS, Microsoft Security policies (Active Directory, Entra, Intune), Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Power Automate workflows and PowerBI dashboards and reporting are desired.
