Accounts Payable Supervisor

Compensation: $80,000-$90,000

About the Opportunity

We're a growing, multi-site organization with several business units across the DC metro area, and our finance team is growing with us. We're looking for a hands-on Supervisor of Accounts Payable to own the AP function across all of our entities. We are a progressive organization looking for an AP leader who can help us automate or high volume AP operations while ensuring accuracy and timely payments.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise, coach, and develop a team of 1-2 AP professionals, including setting priorities, balancing workloads, and running performance check-ins
• Keep entity coding, intercompany activity, and cost allocations accurate across locations
• Own vendor master data, including onboarding, W-9 collection, banking changes, and fraud-prevention controls
• Manage 1099 reporting and year-end AP requirements
• Run AP's part of the month-end close: accruals, AP subledger-to-GL reconciliations, and aging reviews
• Maintain internal controls, approval workflows, and documentation, and support external audits
• Monitor cash requirements and coordinate payment timing with the Controller
• Find and carry out process improvements, automation, and system enhancements so AP scales as the company adds sites and entities
• Build and maintain clear AP policies and procedures
• Serve as the main contact for vendor inquiries and internal stakeholders, resolving issues quickly and professionally

Required Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of experience leading AP operations in a hands-on supervisory or lead role in a high volume AP environment
• A strong grasp of AP best practices, internal controls, accruals, and month-end close
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Experience managing AP across multiple entities, locations, or business units
• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics GP, or a comparable accounting system
• Experience with AP automation tools (e.g., Bill.com, Ottimate, AvidXchange, Tipalti)
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, reconciliations)
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through in a fast-paced environment
• Clear, confident communication with team members, vendors, and leadership
• Experience helping a company through a period of growth, acquisitions, or a system implementation
