Interior Design Manager

Discovery Land Company is seeking an Interior Design Manager to support development responsibilities for residential and amenity offerings. This role is based at Homewood Mountain & Lake Club and requires an experienced professional capable of managing the design vision, consultant coordination, and client selections process across luxury residential and club amenity projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the development team to enforce the overall vision, program, and design direction for DLC Project.
  • Work with consultants tomanage the design and oversee the production of architectural and engineering drawings for different developer product types, as well as several development amenities.
  • Meet with prospective clients and the sales team to review developer product and discuss design options when selecting a home.
  • Schedule, conduct, and manage customer meetings to review selections for each home; take design notes and provide them to consultants and the design team to incorporate selections into the construction documents.
  • Create and manage a selections book for each home and work with the development/construction team to ensure proper handoff for construction.
  • Meet with vendors to provide specifications and design information for products used in our development product.
  • Meet, attend, and lead meetings with consultants, contractors, and clients. Prepare an agenda for any meeting led and provide notes and minutes after all meetings, or delegate this responsibility to an assistant.
  • Manage and mentor design assistant(s), providing guidance and direction for completing tasks, meetings, reports, or any collateral required.
  • Coordinate with the operations team on the programming of areas by providing design input, working with FF&E consultants/vendors, and coordinating with the construction team to execute the design and overall look for the club.
  • Coordinate with the client's consultants and vendors in the execution of their home. Work with the construction team to ensure they have the latest information.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in architectural planning and design on luxury-level projects, in addition to experience with horizontal development projects.
  • Architectural registration is not required; non-active registration is acceptable for candidates who hold a license.
  • Experience in resourcing, selecting, and managing consultant teams for the design and construction of high-end residential and golf club amenity-related building projects.
  • Depth of understanding of operations, both front and back of house, specifically concerning the design, planning, and programming of new construction.
  • Computer skills must include the following programs: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, and Adobe Design Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Specialized software process and functional familiarity may include AutoCAD, SketchUp, and BIM/Revit.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and make recommendations regarding designs, plans, geotechnical studies, and specifications.
  • Create, distribute, and manage RFPs to designers and contractors for initial selection of the design team and contractor.
  • Intimate knowledge of construction means and methods to properly design, value engineer, and manage the construction process.
  • Able to establish and manage departmental and project schedules and budgets.
  • Ability to supervise and plan the work of technical and professional subordinates.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret and carry out complex oral and written instructions, including reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consultants.
  • Considerable knowledge of modern principles, processes, and practices of architecture, engineering, and interior design.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and regulatory agency guidelines.
