Legal Research Librarian

LHH is working with a national law firm in seeking a highly skilled Legal Research Librarian to provide comprehensive legal research and information services to attorneys and legal support staff across the firm. This role is responsible for conducting sophisticated legal, business, and investigative research; monitoring litigation developments; and delivering timely, accurate, and actionable research support that assists attorneys in evaluating legal risks and developing effective strategies. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful researcher with strong analytical skills, a passion for emerging legal technologies, and the ability to manage multiple research requests in a fast-paced law firm environment.

Compensation and Benefits: $110,000 - $120,000 per year, along with comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, etc.

Job Type: Full-Time, Direct-Hire, Hybrid 2 days Onsite after 60-day probationary period

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth legal research involving case law, statutes, regulations, administrative decisions, and judicial opinions.
  • Analyze legal authorities and provide research findings, risk assessments, and research summaries to attorneys and legal teams.
  • Perform investigative and non-interpretive research utilizing public records, corporate databases, and other proprietary research resources.
  • Conduct company, industry, and competitive intelligence research to support client matters and business development initiatives.
  • Monitor dockets in federal, state, appellate, and administrative courts for developments, deadlines, rulings, and filings as requested by attorneys.
  • Track and monitor developments in legal, regulatory, and industry-specific topics and provide updates regarding emerging trends and best practices.
  • Assist attorneys and staff with identifying and utilizing appropriate legal research resources and technologies.
  • Evaluate and leverage AI-assisted legal research tools to improve research efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide training and guidance on legal research platforms and information resources.
  • Maintain awareness of new research products, databases, and technology solutions that enhance the firm's research capabilities.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure research requests are completed accurately and within established deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) and/or Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant legal research experience in a law firm environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting complex legal research and delivering high-quality work product to attorneys.
  • Strong knowledge of legal research methodologies and legal information resources.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver timely results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
