The following duties are typical of this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the duties set forth below and/or may be required to perform additional related duties to address City needs and evolving business practices. Installs, constructs, repairs, maintains, upgrades, and replaces water mains, service laterals, fire hydrants, fire lines, wells, reservoirs, pumps, valves, meters, meter vaults, well or booster pumps and motors, and other water system facilities and related infrastructure. Inspects, diagnoses, and troubleshoots problems; performs preventive and corrective maintenance; conducts tests and inspections on completed work; and identifies repairs requiring outside contractors. Operates and maintains specialized equipment used in water utility operations, such as valve exercisers, hydro-excavators, tapping machines, and related tools.
