DevOps Terraform

Location- California - Remote

Role Summary

The DevOps Terraform will be responsible for designing, implementing, and governing standardized, reusable, and version-controlled infrastructure platforms using Infrastructure as Code (IaC). The role focuses on enabling faster provisioning, higher consistency, reduced manual errors, and strong governance across environments.

Through automation, proactive monitoring, and structured operational processes, the architect will help improve system reliability, security posture, cost efficiency, and scalability, ensuring that cloud and database infrastructure remains stable, compliant, and future-ready, while enabling the customer to focus on core business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement standardized Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks using Terraform.
• Design reusable, modular, and version-controlled Terraform modules for consistent deployments.
• Establish environment-agnostic patterns enabling repeatable builds across Dev, Test, and Production.
• Enforce infrastructure standards and governance controls through code.
• Lead automated provisioning of cloud and database infrastructure platforms.
• Eliminate manual configuration through end-to-end automation.
• Integrate Terraform deployments with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
• Ensure controlled, auditable, and predictable infrastructure changes.
• Design and implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and observability for platform components.
• Support incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and remediation for infrastructure issues.
• Define and maintain operational runbooks and SOPs.
• Ensure infrastructure availability and reliability aligned to defined SLAs.
• Embed security-by-design principles into Terraform configurations.
• Enforce access management, policy compliance, and governance controls through IaC.
• Support audit and compliance requirements with traceable, version-controlled deployments.
• Improve overall security posture of infrastructure platforms.
• Design infrastructure to support elastic scalability and future growth.
• Implement cost optimization strategies, including right-sizing and usage governance.
• Continuously review infrastructure patterns to improve efficiency and sustainability.
• Act as the platform architecture SME for infrastructure automation.
• Collaborate with application, database, security, and cloud teams.
• Provide architectural guidance and best practices to engineering teams.
• Support transition to steady-state operations and ongoing platform evolution.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on expertise with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).
• Experience designing enterprise-scale infrastructure platforms.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps principles, automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP Azure preferred).
• Strong understanding of monitoring, incident management, and RCA.
• Knowledge of security, access management, and governance in cloud environments.
• Strong scripting and troubleshooting skills.

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or DevOps engineering.
• 3+ years in an architect or lead role focused on IaC and platform automation.
• Experience working in enterprise or managed services environments.
• Proven ability to design scalable, compliant, and resilient infrastructure platforms.
