Job Summary:

This position will assist The Duckhorn Portfolio's Central Coast Winemaking team with fermentation monitoring, wine tracking, and data management during the 2026 harvest season. This is a unique opportunity to work with premiere vineyards and custom crush facilities throughout California's Central Coast. The multi-faceted nature of this position allows for many learning opportunities over the course of harvest. Our ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, a self-starter with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. The estimated time frame for this position is August 24th through November 13th.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Track fermentations and pull samples from tanks.
  2. Maintain wine tracking software and winemaking spreadsheets.
  3. Process all weigh tags into winemaking software.
  4. Manage all grape maturity analysis (Brix, pH and TA) in basic laboratory setting and accurately record all data before sending out daily maturity reports.
  5. Evaluate grape loads as they arrive at custom crush winery locations, as needed.
  6. Support Winemaker and Viticulturist with logistics and special projects, as needed.
  7. Sampling vineyards in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties, as needed.

Position Specifications:
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and stay on task
  • Computer skills, including Excel and Winery Software experience preferred
  • Valid California driver's license and clean driving record
  • Viticulture or Enology coursework or degree preferred
