Position Title: Bookkeeper
Classification: Part-Time (maximum 25 hours per week)
Pay Range: $25.00 to $28.00 per hour.

The part-time Bookkeeper supports the organization by recording, tracking, and reconciling daily financial transactions. They lead the accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows, maintain the general ledger, and assist in routine month-close activities. The bookkeeper must be online and available from 11am - 4pm PST Monday through Friday. Application details at the end of the posting. This application process will close at midnight on February 17.This role is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position. Employees in this role are paid for hours worked and are eligible for overtime pay in accordance with federal and state law. This position is not benefits-eligible. Applicable state and local paid sick leave laws apply.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Serve as the first point of contact for vendors and staff in processing items for payment.
  • Maintains schedule of recurring transactions, prepaid transactions, and accrued expenses.
  • Processes and records invoices for payment multiple times per week.
  • Processes corporate expense transactions, reimbursements, and payments multiple times per week.
  • Reviews transaction information and receipts for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensures accurate and timely payments.
Accounts Receivable
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers/donors when processing donations and other receipts.
  • Coordinates with the revenue department to ensure accurate and timely invoicing for services.
  • Maintains schedules of receivables, active collections, and deferred revenues.
  • Supports the revenue department in the timely collection of receivables.
  • Processes and maintains check and deposit logs.
  • Processes and records the receipt of funds and bank deposits.
Cash Flow
  • Maintains weekly cash flow and bank balance reports.
  • Processes and records bank transfers.
  • Monitors daily cash balances to ensure funds availability.
  • Follows up on any pending, disputed, or reversed transactions.
Month Close
  • Performs monthly reconciliation of bank, credit card, and p-card transactions.
  • Records and reconciles monthly payroll transactions and tax liabilities.
  • Prepares and records complex allocations, depreciation and amortization transactions.
  • Prepares and reviews preliminary financial reports including profit & loss and balance sheet statements.
Staff Support
  • Provide staff with assistance with and orientation to EOS's financial systems, processes, and policies.
  • Coordinates the transmission of finance and tax information across internal teams.
  • Leads on communicating with staff on late or missing transaction documentation and coding.
  • Monitors and maintains accounting software, accounts payable, and p-card systems.
Audit Support
  • Assist in the reconciliation of General Ledger accounts.
  • Gathers, collates, and submits documents for external auditor review.
  • Reviews and responds to requests for information from external auditors.
Other Duties - as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounting Clerk, or similar role.
  • Minimum 2 years' recent experience with Quickbooks Online, Bill.com, or similar accounting platforms.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in leading accounts payable and/or accounts receivables and workflows.
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail, including time management.
  • Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a diverse, and dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint skills.
  • General proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Power Point, and Adobe PDFmaker.
  • Adherence to daily and weekly schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree (or higher) in Accounting.
  • Prior experience working for a non-profit organization in a similar role.
  • Prior experience working in a fully-remote capacity.
Supervisorial Responsibilities:
  • The Bookkeeper does not have supervisorial responsibilities.
Autonomy:
  • The Bookkeeper is expected to work independently, with a minimum level of direct supervision.
  • The Bookkeeper is expected to use sound judgement, in alignment with the organization's missions and values, in the performance of their duties.
  • The Bookkeeper may be empowered to make decisions that directlyimpacttheir work and shall not make independent and autonomous decisions thatimpactthe entire organization, the Leadership Team, or other departments and teams.
This position is supervised by the Chief Financial Officer.
