Safety and Training Coordinator

Overview: MV Transportation is looking for a dedicated and experienced Safety and Training Coordinator. This hands-on role involves implementing programs and procedures that comply with State and Federal regulations, as well as corporate and client policies. You will be responsible for overseeing OSHA/CDL compliance and fostering a safety culture within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all operators are up-to-date with the required training standards for the company and contract.
  • Maintain current safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices that support the needs of operational divisions.
  • Act as the subject matter expert in EPA and OSHA, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  • Verify that all new hires fulfill the general qualifications, including background and DMV checks.
  • Utilize safety technology tools to assess operational performance, analyze trend data, and formulate plans aimed at reducing and preventing safety incidents.
  • Oversee the corporate safety incentives and programs, ensuring consistency and effectiveness, including the assignment of Safety Points.
  • Promote a robust safety culture across various locations, integrating operations, safety, and maintenance departments to reinforce a team-oriented approach.
  • Collaborate with corporate claims staff to manage liability and worker's compensation claims promptly, aiming to reduce financial exposure.
  • Manage all employee injury claims proactively to minimize lost time and expedite light duty placements, facilitating a swift return to full-duty status.
  • Ensure successful completion of audits by corporate and client staff, as well as state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Lead training initiatives in classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, adhering to corporate and client specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in transit safety.
  • Background in urban public transit preferred.
  • Previous passenger transportation experience in a similar environment is advantageous.
  • College degree or over five (5) years of safety management experience required.
  • Certifications such as CDS (Certified Director of Safety) and/or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) are preferred.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and policies, including FTA, FMCSA, and DOT.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various departments and work independently.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to delegate tasks effectively and supervise department staff appropriately.

Starting salary range: $70,000 - $87,000
