JOB SUMMARY: Manage warehouse, dock, salvage, recycle and Outlet operations to ensure donated goods are collected, processed and distributed to retail stores for sale in a timely and efficient manner, and that the Outlet ("as is") operation is efficiently operated. Manage and oversee new / purchased goods inventory to ensure timely delivery and minimize or eliminate loss or theft.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Manage warehouse-related operations for San Luis Obispo County, ensuring product is processed/distributed/sold according to defined procedures, and that established standards of quantity/quality are being met, to ensure optimum return. On a daily basis, plan and review production budgets to actual. Take appropriate adjustments to daily goals to surpass production requirements.
Recommend and implement approved department budgets (operational and capital).
Oversee the salvage function, ensuring documented salvage shipments are made according to schedule. Monthly negotiations with vendors for best available price.
Ensure all E-commerce shipping and chain of custody procedures are adhered.
Supervise staff, including the selection, promotion, demotion, discipline/termination, training (including safety) performance appraisal and salary change recommendations for staff, according to Company policy.
Ensure compliance with pertinent State and Federal regulations as they pertain to the operation; ensure the proper maintenance of related equipment.
Complete and submit required paperwork to ensure proper administration of established systems. Process payroll for employees, maintaining confidentiality in this and all other personnel-related functions and procedures.
Develop a safe work culture / environment through training staff in safe work practices, communicating periodic safety information, and performing safety inspections. Input required work orders for repair or maintenance of equipment.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Valid Class C California Driver's License
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Four years progressively responsible experience in a warehouse or distribution function, including two year's supervisory experience, or equivalent. Experience supervising a transportation fleet helpful.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Practices and procedures related to donated goods product processing
Basic math skills.
Familiarity with Goodwill Central Coast's mission and general company policies and procedures (this can be learned on-the-job).
Familiarity with computer operation and typical computer programs.
EQUIPMENT USED: Typical material handling equipment office equipment and typical warehouse equipment.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Ability to communicate in basic Spanish desirable.

Ability to drive vehicles in the transaction of Company business. This requires a good driving record, and may require the ability to provide evidence of personal vehicle liability insurance.

EMOTIONAL EFFORT:
The job requires the incumbent to regularly deal with short deadlines which may require some overtime. There are fluctuating periods of high activity/demands throughout the course of the workday.
JOB SETTING
Work is performed in large enclosed warehouse area on an even concrete floor surface. The area is heated and has some natural ventilation. The temperature will fluctuate to some degree depending on location within the department. Dust and dirt is controlled by daily cleaning of the work area. Some of the materials handled may be soiled; these are disposed of following established procedures. Work is completed independently but in cooperation with whole department. There is a moderate amount of public contact. The noise volume is moderately high throughout the day depending on the amount of activity, equipment in operation and radio operation. Material handling equipment (forklift, hand truck, movable containers/racks) and trucks may be operated in or near work area. Walking on uneven ground (when going up and down ramps) is occasionally required. Otherwise, ground and work surface is even.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work place is steady requiring occasional lifting and/or carrying of items up to 25 lbs. Large or heavier items (26 lbs. or more) will be moved either with assistance from another person or by using appropriate material handling equipment.
Normal or corrected talking, hearing, and seeing abilities are sufficient to perform required tasks.
