INDUSTRIAL AND MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING (IME)

  • The IME Department in the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking applications for a full-time lecturer in the manufacturing area for the 2024/2025 academic year. Possibility of one-year extension for 2025/2026 academic year, contingent on department need and satisfactory performance reviews. Eligible candidates should be capable of teaching in the area of Manufacturing Engineering including industrial automation, machining, welding, foundry and electronics, technical drafting, material removal, computer-aided solid modeling, computer numerical control (CNC) programming, and CAD/CAM software. Candidates with extensive industry experience are encouraged to apply.

Salary & rank

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677
Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224
Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523
Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,211

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching manufacturing engineering courses and contributing to the undergraduate program in a student-centered learning environment. The position may involve collaboration in multidisciplinary settings and engagement with industry partners to connect classroom learning with practice.

Required qualifications

  • B.S. in industrial or manufacturing engineering or a related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, and ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.

Preferred qualifications

  • M.S. in industrial or manufacturing engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment; relevant work experience and professional capabilities are valued.

Special conditions

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
