A real estate company near Long Beach is looking for a Project Accountant to join their team. In this Project Accountant role, this person will be responsible for managing the financials for at least 4 construction projects, job costing, and project budgeting. To be successful in this role, the Project Accountant should be detail-oriented and have great communication skills.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field
• 3+ years of project or construction accounting experience
• Advanced Excel

Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting functions related to construction projects, including budgeting, job costing, forecasting, and cost tracking.
• Prepare and review monthly project financials, including Work In Progress (WIP) schedules and variance analysis.
• Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts tied to construction activities.
• Collaborate with project managers to review budgets, expenditures, and profitability.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and relevant tax regulations.
• Process and track subcontractor payments, retainage, and lien waivers.
• Maintain accurate records of construction contracts, change orders, and billings.
• Assist with the preparation of financial reports, audits, and regulatory filings.
• Support the month-end and year-end close processes for construction-related accounts.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting workflows and reporting accuracy.
