Case Manager Immigration Bilingual Spanish role at The GEO Group, Inc.


Overview: BI Incorporated has operated ISAP for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). ISAP is an essential part of ERO, providing intensive supervision of individuals in immigration proceedings. The program combines comprehensive case management with proven supervision technology and maintains an extensive network of community-based partners to support participants.


Responsibilities



  • Provides case management of Intensive Supervision Appearance Program (ISAP) participants from entry to release by administering the programs policies and procedures as defined by the DHS contract.

  • Develops, implements, coordinates, reviews and updates case management and individual service plans for ISAP participants in conformance with state and federal regulations and program requirements.

  • Meets with participants face-to-face regularly as required by contractual obligations.

  • Maintains accurate and complete case records for all ISAP participants from entry to release; proactively manages cases using appropriate tools and techniques; maintains confidentiality of records.

  • Conducts intake interviews and orientation sessions within contractual timeframes; installs electronic monitoring equipment when necessary and monitors compliance.

  • Assists ISAP participants with acquiring travel documents and maintains a log of travel document information.

  • Evaluates English proficiency to determine resources needed for clear communication; coordinates and facilitates translation services, including emergency translation services.

  • Connects participants with community resources (transportation, medical, food, shelter, clothing, education, financial, legal, religious, and other social services).

  • Supervises ISAP participants in company offices; establishes schedules including counseling sessions, immigration court appearances, and access to legal services.

  • Coordinates attendance at legal orientation and cultural orientation sessions; reviews individual service plans and conducts risk/needs assessments; writes progress reports as required.

  • Reports program violations; conducts home visits to verify residence; provides emergency counseling as needed.

  • Maintains relationships with translation resources in the community (private services, volunteers, schools, NGOs, churches, etc.).

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications



  • Bachelors Degree required; degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field preferred.

  • At least two (2) years of customer service or case management experience; experience in fields related to law, social work, detention, corrections or multicultural work preferred.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.

  • Valid drivers license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for home visits.

  • Ability to pass a federal background check and obtain a suitability determination; United States citizenship required.

  • Must have lived in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years (military service and study abroad included).

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees, community contacts, government officials and participants; ability to interpret and articulate rules, orders and materials; ability to compose reports.

  • Demonstrated sound judgment, ability to maintain self-control in stressful situations, and ability to defuse hostile or unstable situations.

  • Attention to detail, problem solving ability, and ability to work with multicultural contacts with sensitivity.

  • Basic knowledge of immigration laws, regulations and procedures; basic computer skills; ability to interpret electronic monitoring messages and daily reports; good typing skills for data entry.


Working Conditions


Typical office environment with some local travel required. Use of standard office equipment. Physical requirements include bending, stooping, and handling monitoring equipment; ability to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance during home visits and court-related activities.
