Under direct supervision, will provide public reception, collect admissions, prepare deposits, provide information and necessary services to the general public at the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center and/or the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center. Will assist with reporting incidents/accidents, assist with the general facility maintenance activities, and perform other duties as assigned.
Weekends, holidays, and split shift work will be required.

What We Do: The Department of Recreation and Parks' mission is to enrich the lives of the residents of Santa Maria through quality recreation programs and services; and to provide safe and well-maintained facilities and parks, while anticipating the changing needs of the community. The department operates 234 acres of developed parkland in 28 neighborhood and community parks, part of the 1,774-acre Los Flores Ranch Park property, the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center, and other community centers. The department provides programs in aquatics, youth and adult sports. It also manages the City's Urban Forest Program.

Swim Pool Clerk (Recreation Clerk) Ideal Candidate
Knowledge of: English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; modern office methods, procedures, and equipment including computer systems, Microsoft Office Suite software and filing systems; and principles and practices of exemplary customer service.
Ability to: Learn the organization, procedures, and operating details of the City department to which assigned; perform routine clerical work including maintenance of appropriate records and files; operate a variety of modern office equipment such as copy machines, computer terminals, etc.; verify and check files and data; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; understand and carry out oral and written directions; take a proactive approach to problem solving; and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Desired Certification: American Red Cross CPR and Standard First Aid.
License: Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver License. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record and be insurable to operate City vehicles.
