SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $81,000 to $95,000 / year. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.
SUMMARY
Edge Autonomy is seeking an IS and Cybersecurity Associate to support secure system configuration, imaging, and automation across both airborne and ground systems. Working within the Networking, Communications, and Cybersecurity (NCC) Integrated Product Team, this individual will help shape and enforce secure computing environments by implementing firewalls, applying hardening standards, and building automation tools for production and operational use.
This is a hands-on, cross-disciplinary role that blends cybersecurity, scripting, imaging, and network configuration-ideal for a technically skilled individual who is also detail-oriented and effective at documentation and coordination in support of fast-moving engineering and security teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.
- Configure and maintain firewall rules and group policies on end-user and embedded systems to ensure cyber hygiene and regulatory compliance.
- Support the creation and maintenance of device images for Windows and Ubuntu platforms.
- Apply and document STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) and other cybersecurity standards where applicable.
- Contribute to software configuration management (SCM) efforts, ensuring consistency and traceability in toolchain and system configuration.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to streamline configuration, provisioning, and diagnostics.
- Assist in network mapping and configuration, ensuring proper connectivity across air and ground subsystems.
- Participate in the creation and implementation of process documentation and SOPs for secure device imaging and configuration workflows.
- Use Jira to track tasks, log issues, and support team-level planning.
- Take thorough, accurate notes in meetings and technical working sessions; ensure documentation is clear, complete, and stored in accessible systems (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint).
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, IT, software, and engineering teams to align security, configuration, and automation efforts with project needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Certification
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Security+ or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Technical Skills
- Experience with firewall and group policy configuration (Windows and/or Linux systems).
- Familiarity with device imaging techniques for both Ubuntu and Windows.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or Bash).
- Understanding of basic network design, including IP addressing and subnetting.
- Familiarity with SCM tools (e.g., Git) and cybersecurity best practices.
- Proficient in Jira for issue tracking and task management.
Experience
- 2+ years supporting systems configuration or cybersecurity in an engineering or IT setting.
- Experience generating and maintaining technical documentation and internal notes.
- Exposure to secure system development or IT administration preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Organized and detail-oriented with a strong documentation ethic.
- Able to take clear, structured notes during meetings and translate them into actionable content.
- Ability to work across teams and independently troubleshoot complex system issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with STIG application and compliance tools (e.g., SCAP, DISA tools).
- Experience with Ansible, Jenkins, or other automation and orchestration tools.
- Knowledge of secure networking protocols and best practices.
Experience
- Background in aerospace, defense, or regulated industries a plus.
- Experience with imaging and provisioning systems in a production environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
