Description:

About Us

At Eon, we are at the forefront of large-scale neuroscientific connectomic data collection. Our mission is to enable the safe and scalable development of brain emulation technology to empower humanity over the next decade, starting with a digital twin of a mouse.

Role

This is a senior role with substantial responsibility for cell, tissue, and eventually in-vivo mouse recording at Eon. At Eon, we intend to create a large amount of mouse neural recordings and high-resolution connectomic scans to train machine learning models of brain function, and produce "structure-to-function translation". The mouse functional recording team lead would lead this functional recording data collection, which would include voltage image (primarily), calcium imaging, and potentially electrophysiological recording or MEA. Extensive, hands-on experience with voltage imaging, and ideally other neural recording modalities is required.

Responsibilities

  • Protocol Development and Study Design: This responsibility involves creating detailed study protocols that outline the objectives, methodologies, and ethical considerations of neuroscientific experiments on animals.
  • Hiring and Team Building: Recruit and build a multidisciplinary team, including mouse surgeons, technicians, and scientists specialized in various recording techniques.
  • Lead Functional Imaging Experiments: Oversee and personally execute the first sets of functional recording experiments using advanced techniques such as voltage imaging, calcium imaging or electrophysiology.

Skills

  • PhD or equivalent qualifications in neuroscience or related field; 3+ years of experience post PhD, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience performing voltage/calcium imaging and analysis thereof.
  • Machine learning experience would be ideal.
  • Experience designing and leading functional imaging experiments, with a track record of generating high-quality data.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and build scientific teams.
  • Experience overseeing multiple neuroscientific projects in rodents.

Key Projects

These are examples of projects that you would be working on when joining us:

  • Collecting large amounts of voltage imaging datasets, initially cell cultures, then moving to slice and in vivo
  • maybe collecting electrophysiology, both using slice recordings and in vivo multi shank electrodes.
  • Hiring functional recording team.
  • Correlating between functional data and structural data.

Salary

  • Competitive salary and equity.
