Job Title: Director of Engineering

Overview:

My cutting-edge New Space client is seeking a dynamic Engineering Leaderto head up the Processing Core team! This position will lead the development of software and hardware systems for a next-gen hypersonic vehicle. This hands-on leadership role involves managing a cross-disciplinary team and driving the design, integration, and testing of critical systems, including flight computers, control systems, and core avionics. This position is responsible for end-to-end development, from initial design and testing to deployment on production-ready vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the technical and programmatic development of the flight computer and flight software systems for a next-generation hypersonic vehicle.
• Lead a high-performing team in designing, building, testing, and producing the flight computer, operating system, and flight software.
• Drive seamless integration of hardware and software into the vehicle architecture.
• Innovate within a fast-paced, startup environment to develop reliable and scalable solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Computer Engineering / Science or similar.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, ideally within a startup environment.
• Strong leadership experience across technical execution, program oversight, and team management.
• Demonstrated ability to drive projects from initial conceptual design through production deployment.
• Proven track record of rapidly developing and iterating on critical software infrastructure, including high-reliability, high-security, or safety-critical systems.
• Hands-on experience in Linux systems (RTOS, kernel, driver development) and hardware integration.
• Experience with embedded systems, including robotics or autonomous platforms.
• Strong understanding of hardware architecture, low-level programming, and OS implementation.
• Proficiency in C, C++, or Rust for embedded systems.
• Familiarity with cryptography.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience developing software for autonomous flight systems, satellites, rockets, or robotics.
