FULL-TIME LECTURER - STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo invites applications for a full-time academic year lecturer position in the area of Structural Engineering. The position starts in Fall 2024 with the possibility of a one-year extension contingent on departmental need and satisfactory evaluations. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching (and/or coordinating) courses in the areas of general structural design (steel, concrete, and timber), civil engineering materials, and/or structural mechanics depending on department needs and the candidate's skills.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS – A minimum of a MS in civil, structural, architectural engineering or a closely related field is required. Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - A P.E. and an S.E. licensure are preferred. PhD in civil, structural, architectural engineering or a closely related field is preferred. Candidates with related industry or consulting experience will be given preference to reinforce Cal Poly's Learn by Doing core philosophy. Previous teaching experience is desirable (but not required). Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
