Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Infrastructure Engineering Manager, this position supports the ITS-Infrastructure Engineering group and their interface with other campus systems and services. Provides analysis, modification, maintenance, installation, and design of AWS, Nutanix, VMWare, and workstation platforms and associated services to support internal ITS support staff and the user community. Ensures system availability, integrity, and reliability.

Working with the director and managers, the lead ensures service success, excellent customer service, prioritizes and assigns daily work, and handles escalation and incident response.

This position is eligible for remote work pursuant to Cal Poly's Telecommuting and Remote Work Guidelines and the CSU policy requiring that all work be performed within the State of California.

Department Summary

Information Technology Services (ITS) helps Cal Poly achieve academic excellence through developing and implementing technology solutions aligned with strategic goals. With over 170 professionals in a DevOps environment, ITS fosters innovation, supports continuous learning, and develops people.

Key Qualifications
  • Ability to manage project timelines, coordinate resources, and lead implementation efforts.
  • Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure and platform services such as monitoring, configuration management (e.g., MS SCCM, Ansible), and IAM.
  • Proficiency in at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud).
  • Experience designing and deploying systems using CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, ARM).
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience.
  • Additional qualifying experience may substitute for up to two years of education on a year-for-year basis.
Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $98,000 - $115,000 per year.

Classification Range: $61,896 - $152,760 per year.
