This is an in-office position for hire at Inspired Flights HQ in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Job Description

Inspired Flight is seeking a talented and experienced Configuration Manager to join our Inspired Flight team. This team member will support and develop the configuration management process at Inspired Flight.

This position is a core role at Inspired Flight and will be part of a rapidly growing company in the growing UAV industry. Lots of upward mobility available for this role!

Typical responsibilities:

  • Manage ECOs, drawing releases, Manufacturing work instructions, bill of material structures, and part numbers.
  • Act as the configuration control lead across all engineering and manufacturing phases.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure timely document releases.
  • Oversee CAD model standards, revision control, and PDM/PLM workflows.
  • Maintain traceable, compliant records of all configuration data.
  • Develop and improve SOPs for documentation and part numbering.
  • Align configuration data with engineering and manufacturing needs.
  • Train and support teams on CM tools and standards.

Youll excel in this role if you have:

  • Familiarity with Aerospace company best practices and documentation requirements like ISO9000, ASME, and MIL-Standards
  • Strong ability to find and correct inconsistencies in documentation, drawings, and BOMs before they impact production.
  • Strong Communication and is able to work with cross discipline teams to align changes and documentation requirements.
  • Following and improving standardized procedures to ensure traceability and compliance
  • Experience in setting up and using PLM/PDM platforms to streamline workflows and reduce errors.
  • Proactively identifying gaps in documentation processes and implementing improvements without waiting to be asked.
  • Navigating shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment, especially in development-to-production transitions.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 0-5 Years experience in a related field
  • Experience preferably in the following industries: UAS, aviation, aerospace, defense sector
