Position Overview

The Computer Science and Software Engineering Department at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo is inviting applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning Fall 2025.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  1. Teach undergraduate and master's level courses.
  2. Support and expand curricular development in Computer Science and Software Engineering.
  3. Pursue research in their area of expertise.
  4. Provide service to the department, university, and community.

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Anticipated hiring range: $110,250 – $123,500 per year.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Candidates nearing completion (ABD) will be considered but must provide proof of degree completion prior to appointment.

  1. Commitment to teaching excellence and laboratory-based instruction.
  2. Continued professional development and scholarship.
  3. Ability to work effectively with diverse students, staff, and faculty.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  1. Experience working with diverse populations.
  2. Demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching and research.
  3. Experience in laboratory-based instruction or industry experience.
  4. Ability to teach courses in areas of need such as software engineering, programming languages, etc.
