OC San is currently looking to fill the role of a Principal Human Resources Analyst (Employee Relations).

As a member of the Employee and Labor Relations team, the Principal Human Resources Analyst will:

  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources management to provide expert counsel and serve as a trusted advisor to various departments regarding employee relations matters.
  • Manage and respond to sensitive and high-stakes issues, including workplace complaints, investigations, disciplinary actions, and grievances, while ensuring timely resolution and compliance with organizational policies, legal and contractual obligations.
  • As a technical lead, mentor and support HR staff responsible for administering the performance management, workers' compensation and leave of absence programs.
  • Provide information to employees and others using sound judgment and effective interpretation of bargaining agreements, policies, laws, rules and procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and administer complex HR programs with an organization-wide impact to help maintain a motivated and high-performing workforce.
  • Take a leadership role to research and analyze trends in HR and develop sound recommendations for management, prepare data-driven and concise staff reports, and participate in the budget process.

The Ideal Candidate will proactively address workplace challenges, ensure legal and labor contract compliance, and foster positive employer-employee relationships that enhance engagement and productivity. Additionally, the individual will have:

  • Extensive knowledge and direct experience managing employee complaints, grievances and investigations including, but not limited to, conducting investigative interviews, drafting disciplinary documents, facilitating public employee due process rights, and serving as the employer representative in administrative and legal proceedings.
  • A deep understanding of HR principles and practices, with demonstrated ability to problem-solve, and think critically to resolve issues and handle high-volume, sensitive matters.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization, providing excellent customer service and advice.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with others in situations that may involve confrontation, conflict and difficult conversations.
  • A detail-oriented, self-directed and proactive work style with the ability to juggle multiple projects and assignments while producing high-quality work.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with a demonstrated track record of mentoring and guiding junior staff to success while encouraging their professional growth.

Job Requirements

This position requires the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university which is accredited by the US Department of Education, with major coursework in human resources, psychology, business or public administration, or a related field.

Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in human resources administration or analysis is required.

In addition, certifications or relevant training/coursework recognized in the Human Resources industry are highly desired.
