Our Client is a leading organization in the oil & gas space and is dedicated to promoting sustainability and regulatory compliance across their operations. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Engineer to join their in-house team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in air quality permitting and compliance, and who has experience working closely with regulatory agencies. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage air quality permitting and compliance, ensuring alignment with state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, particularly the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), ensuring adherence to all relevant air quality standards.
  • Prepare and submit air quality permits, reports, and other regulatory documentation as required.
  • Coordinate and execute environmental compliance audits to ensure operations are meeting or exceeding environmental requirements.
  • Monitor and assess air emissions, evaluate regulatory trends, and advise on environmental risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, engineering, and safety, to implement best practices for air quality management.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes, providing recommendations for compliance strategies and technical support.
  • Contribute to internal environmental performance reviews and sustainability initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in environmental engineering within LA County, with a focus on air quality permitting and compliance.
  • Extensive experience with air quality regulations and permitting processes, particularly with SCAQMD.
  • Proven track record of working effectively with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and resolve permitting issues.
  • Experience in the oil & gas refinery industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical understanding of air quality modeling, emissions inventories, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex regulatory information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
