What You'll Do…

The Dispatcher is vital to Papich Construction for efficient trucking operations. This is a multifaceted position where every day will be different. Management and equipment technical abilities will be utilized daily during operations. Compliance with multiple programs is required, with our primary focus as continual improvement and growth of the team.


Duties/Responsibilities:

· Maintain work schedule for trucking operations

· Maintain DOT compliance records

· Coordinate with field personnel for their equipment needs

· Foster and sustain a positive, team-oriented culture

· Quality control inspection of trucks and trailers

· Ensure all required inspections are completed

· Review and approve daily paperwork, timecards, invoices, logbooks, inspections, etc.

· Ensure all workspace safety protocols are followed

· Track outside vendor rental log

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Team:

· Heavy Haul Drivers (x2)

· Utility Drivers (x2)

· Aggregate Drivers (x10)


What We're Looking For…

Communication Skills. Dispatchers are the main point of contact between our drivers and our project managers, which means they must communicate clearly and effectively with both parties. Good communication skills allow dispatchers to provide accurate information, troubleshooting issues that arise during transportation, and keep everyone informed about plan changes.


Organizational Skills. Our Dispatcher will need to be highly organized and able to keep track of schedules, deadlines, and tasks assigned. In addition, they must be able to quickly and easily find information when needed. Dispatching, at times, can be chaotic and overwhelming, but with strong organizational skills, dispatchers can keep everything running smoothly and avoid potential problems.

Problem Solving Skills. Dispatchers are often the first point of contact for employees experiencing problems. They need to be able to assess the situation and come up with a solution quickly. This might involve troubleshooting technical problems, mediating interpersonal conflicts, or providing support and guidance.


You can't always anticipate every problem that might come up, so it's essential to be creative and resourceful. A good dispatcher will know how to think on their feet and find solutions that work. Dispatchers who can adapt quickly to changing situations are better equipped to handle unexpected challenges that may arise on the road. This means being able to think creatively and outside of the box and being willing to change courses when necessary.


What You'll Bring…

Required Qualifications:

· Ability to learn and use HCSS Dispatcher computer software system

· Competent knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel as well as internet browsers and Windows

· Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision

· Excellent communication skills

· Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities and sometimes conflicting deadlines

· Available to work some nights, weekends and holidays when needed

· Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills.

· Dedicated to high quality customer service delivery and integrity

· Detail oriented, organized, independent, self-starter and willingness to learn

· Ability to communicate effectively with field, office and management staff

Education and Experience:

· Associate, Vocational or Technical Degree in related field preferred

· 2-5 years of experience in the transportation or equipment industry (transportation management, dispatching, customer interaction)

Preferred Qualifications:

· Valid Commercial driver's license and active DOT medical card highly desired

Work Schedule:

· Full-time

· Monday through Friday

· Weekends as needed

Important Notes:

· This position is based in Arroyo Grande, CA, and requires full-time, in-office/on-site presence. This is not a remote or hybrid position.

Work Environment:

Indoor and outdoor as required. Frequent sitting, standing, walking and carrying objects up to 25 lbs is required.
