JOB DESCRIPTION

The City of San Luis Obispo has multiple openings for the Parks Maintenance Aide classification. These are part-time, temporary positions. Depending on job duties, individuals hired in this position may be eligible for benefits through the Affordable Care Act.
Parks Maintenance Aide I
This position is responsible for driving to all parks and facilities, emptying trash and recycling receptacles in the City of San Luis Obispo. Hours: Mondays and Fridays from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Parks Maintenance Aide I
Weekend position - Works Saturday and Sunday beginning at 6:00 am and the work day is not to exceed 8 hours. Position is responsible for opening all park restrooms and performing safety inspections by 8:00 am. During the baseball season, ballfield preparation is also required. Position also supports scheduled events held in our parks as necessary. After opening duties, work in parks performing landscape maintenance.

Weekday position - Works at Damon Garcia Sports fields Monday thru Wednesday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. This position will assist in the landscape maintenance of that facility. Duties include: landscape maintenance, turf maintenance and renovation, painting of the sports fields, irrigation repair, equipment maintenance and event support.

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must have or be able to:

• Class "C" drivers license and a satisfactory driving record
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing

A pre-employment physical and State of California DOJ live scan fingerprint background check will be required.

This is a temporary position, with no benefits.
