Salary $34,020.61 - $45,754.01 Annually Location CA 91786, CA Job Type Full Time Department Public Works Department I Job Number 2115 Max Number of Applicants 50 Closing 3/2/2022 11:59 PM Pacific GENERAL PURPOSE Under moderate supervision, performs routine cleaning of City buildings and facilities; replaces supplies; performs light repairs; and performs related duties as assigned.

**CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:**This position class is assigned to a variety of City owned facilities and the incumbent is responsible for cleaning and/or maintaining the equipment throughout Government buildings.

****CURRENT VACANCY:****One full-time position with full benefits in the Public Works Department.

****REPORTING SCHEDULE****:****12 months per year; 10 hours per day; 4 days per week (Monday through Thursday; 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. OR Tuesday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ).

**SALARY:**

**PROBATIONARY PERIOD:**

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ***The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. - Dusts and cleans furniture and surfaces; empties wastebaskets.

- Sweeps, dusts, vacuums, and mops floors.

- Cleans and maintains restroom and appropriate facilities; replaces stock of supplies such as soap and paper products.

- Washes and polishes windows, mirrors, and metal surfaces.

- Sets up and tears down rooms for classes and special events.

- Cleans and replaces light bulbs.

- Completes daily time sheet.

- Cleans and maintains equipment; organizes custodial supply room.

- Performs minor repairs to facilities and equipment.

- Fills out supply request forms to purchase cleaning supplies.

- May maintain building security by locking and unlocking rooms and windows.

- May clean kitchen at Senior Center.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES **Knowledge of:**

Modern and efficient custodial methods, techniques, and practices; appropriate chemical solutions and their proper use, mixing techniques, and disposal; proper use of safety equipment.

**Education:**

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.

**Training/Experience:**

One year of custodial experience, including building and equipment maintenance.

**Licenses/Certificates/and Special Requirements:**

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver's license, an acceptable driving record and evidence of insurability.

**Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.**

**Some assignments, including assignment to the Police Department, require that qualified applicants undergo a complete, comprehensive, background investigation including a Polygraph Examination.**

**Physical Demands**:

The sensory demands of the job typically require seeing, hearing, and speaking. The position requires close vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. This position frequently stands and walks to access work areas and occasionally sits to complete work records.

Positions in this classification frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach in order to access cleaning areas. Positions in this classification frequently lift, move, and carry cleaning supplies weighing less than 20 pounds. The position requires firm grasping and wrist extension and rotation for cleaning. Positions in this classification occasionally lift and carry tables, chairs, and furniture weighing less than 50 pounds in order to set up and break down meeting areas. The position is subject to cleaning solutions, as well as wetness and moisture.

**Mental Demands**:

While performing the duties of this class, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; work under deadlines; and interact with staff, customers, the public and others encountered in the course of work.
