Description

To supervise the use of the City's Community Center; and to perform a variety of duties relative to assigned area of responsibility.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives general supervision from the Director of Recreation Services.
Essential Function Statements

(Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following):

  1. Oversee, facilitate and monitor the use of the City's Community Center.
  2. Respond to inquiries and provide information related to the Community Center to the public in a courteous, professional and timely manner.
  3. Assist facility patrons with set-up, and clean up of the Community Center; maintain a clean and orderly facility.
  4. Clean up kitchen, floors and counters, if needed to maintain a clean facility.
  5. Ensure that groups using the Community Center observe all appropriate rules and safety regulations; report to supervisor or authorities, as appropriate.
  6. Ensure that maximum occupancy is not exceeded at the facility and record number of people and amenities used during events within the Community Center.
  7. Accurately report any damage or problems associated with uses of the Community Center.
  8. Answer phones, and take messages for the Senior Facility Attendant or Director of Recreation Services.
  9. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
  10. Respond and perform assigned duties in the event of a City declared emergency.

  • Communicate effectively with a diverse population.
  • Quickly accommodate unexpected changes in priorities, work schedules and emergencies.
  • Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Experience and Training Guidelines

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience and Education:
No prior experience is required; zero to one year of experience in a recreational setting is desirable.

Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

License or Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California driver's license.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions:
Office and building environment; exposure to computer screens, extensive contact with participants and public, and limited exposure to adverse conditions such as dust, fumes, odors, noise or inclement weather conditions.

Physical Conditions:
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read written materials, a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone; finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard and to operate standard office equipment. Must possess the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, move tables and chairs, walk over uneven surfaces, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, as well as lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects up to 40 pounds.

Public Agency Retirement System: Employer contributes to retirement benefits through membership in the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS) for all part-time employees in lieu of Social Security. Each pay period 6.0% will be deducted from the employee's salary and deposited into the PARS account. The City contributes an additional 1.5% of the employee's salary to the PARS account.

Sick Time: 24 hours of sick leave per year which can be used after 90 days of employment.
