**Position Overview:**

The Director of Logistics and Customer Service will develop and lead the outbound freight and logistics network, and order fulfillment operations for all of Mezzetta. This role owns all customer fulfillment operations and is accountable for meeting customer service levels at the lowest optimal cost for freight and warehouse while ensuring control over inventory, order management, and invoicing. Developing operational strategies and third-party relationships to achieve these objectives, including internal collaborative strategies with planning and manufacturing support the results, is a key requirement of this role.

The scope of the role encompasses the warehousing and distribution of Mezzetta finished products; including catalog business to business (B2B) workflows, along with receipt, control, and issuance of raw materials utilized at the manufacturing site. This role will develop and optimize workflow scaling for the growth of the business, including network optimization of nodes for finished goods inventory and distribution to meet regional customer service needs which includes owned warehouses and regional 3PLs. The Director establishes continuous improvement in processes, controls, policies and procedures that meet and exceed customer service commitments in a way that supports the overall success of Mezzetta. This role oversees a team responsible for managing partnerships with external logistics partners, including all operational contract management.

**Primary Responsibilities:**

* Develop and implement anticipatory strategies over warehousing and distribution for Mezzetta by utilizing and building upon internal capabilities, as well as establishing and managing strategic relationships with 3PL partners.

* Develop the infrastructure and workflow for national product availability within regional areas focusing on optimizing working capital, cost, and service levels through effective logistics management, network models, and overall supply chain strategy for domestic business expansion.

* Ensure effective performance management and controls are in place for owned and operated warehouses, and through third party relationships.

* Define requirements for system enhancements or efficiency opportunities; coordinate testing and training and ensure SOPs and documentation are updated for effective utilization of existing systems and implementation of new systems.

* Support the needs of Mezzetta customers by ensuring relationships with carriers and customer service centers facilitate on time and in full delivery performance targets are being met.

* Lead your team in day to day execution to achieve strategic objectives and operational targets in service, cost, controls, and capital management with maintenance and improvement in all key business KPIs to best practice benchmarks.

* Analyze and identify trends and root cause issues to define and execute initiatives to overcome barriers, achieve results, and drive improvements.

* Partner with finance leadership on key insights to achieve targeted results, and accurately plan/forecast financial outcomes inclusive of capital spending.

* Develop and update the roadmap for warehousing and fulfillment strategy to ensure organizational alignment and empowerment to execute the strategy..

* Lead Customer Support Activities by equipping the team for success in supporting customers, while ensuring Mezzetta order management and invoicing adheres to defined processes and procedures Establish standard operating procedures and process documentation to ensure a consistent level of service delivery across the entire Customer Service organization.

* Keep current on industry trends, technology, and best practice benchmarks to ensure Mezzetta maintains competitiveness.

* Mentor next level managers and leaders within the functional work-streams to continue to grow talent within our organization.

**Qualifications:**

* Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management / Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or other related business or scientific field as outlined in the essential duties.

* 15+ years of CPG or product based industry experience in supply chain management, logistics, customer service / order management, or similar related field as outlined in the essential duties.

* 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, with demonstrated success.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, and sufficient understanding of WMS, MRP, and ERP systems to lead effective execution in Logistics and Supply Chain.

* 5+ years of experience working within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP.

* Professional working knowledge in basic and advanced continuous improvement methodologies and principles; including LEAN Six Sigma and Practical Process Improvements (PPI).

* Demonstrated ability to establish and expand best practices for warehousing and order fulfillment.

* Bilingual

**Work Environment:**

This position requires on site attendance in American Canyon on a weekly basis to ensure effective leadership of operations, including travel as needed to establish effective business partner relationships.
