Drumline Instructor

Summary:

The Drumline Instructor is responsible for providing direction to student musicians to achieve a high level of skill, discipline, musicality, and teamwork within the drumline ensemble.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in percussion performance and instruction
  • Experience in marching percussion and drumline techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively with student musicians and foster a positive learning environment
  • Knowledge of music theory and ensemble performance
  • CPR/AED Certified
  • Valid Driver's License

Evaluation:

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation.

Athletic Director

Terms of Employment:

This is a yearly stipend position at Code 1. The term may be extended annually pending the review of school needs and the evaluation process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Develops and implements a comprehensive curriculum for the drumline ensemble, focusing on technical proficiency, musicality, and ensemble cohesion.
  2. Conducts regular rehearsals and sectionals to facilitate student learning and ensemble performance.
  3. Provides individual and group instruction to student musicians, addressing both technical and musical aspects of percussion performance.
  4. Coordinates with the Athletic Director to schedule rehearsal times, performance opportunities, and facility usage.
  5. Collaborates with the Athletic Director and other music staff to ensure alignment of drumline activities with overall music program goals.
  6. Assists in selecting and procuring percussion equipment, instruments, and music materials.
  7. Maintains inventory of percussion equipment and ensures proper care, maintenance, and storage.
  8. Monitors student progress and evaluates performance through regular assessments and feedback.
  9. Fosters a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes teamwork, respect, and camaraderie among ensemble members.
  10. Attends performances, competitions, and other events with the drumline ensemble, providing leadership and support as needed.
  11. Communicates regularly with students, parents, and school administrators regarding ensemble activities, schedules, and expectations.
  12. Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills and stay current with trends in percussion education.
  13. Models and promotes ethical and professional behavior in all student, colleague, and stakeholder interactions.
  14. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Music Director or another appropriate administrator.

  • Must model a desire and willingness to learn continually

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, run, jump, stretch, stand, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. The employee may occasionally climb stairs, ropes, or ladders. Specific vision abilities required in this job include close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision. The employee must have the ability to demonstrate the proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation.
